This category of products is called "Pocket WiFi" by e-Mobile, "MyFi" by some carriers in the US, and is also known generically as "WiFi Data Cards", etc.  Whatever you call it, they are self-contained devices which connect to a mobile-phone type 3G or LTE network on one side, and create a Wireless access point on the other side which you can connect to with your computers and other devices.  These devices allow users to connect and use the network without having to install any special drivers or learn anything special.  The lack or drivers or the need for a card slot also means that SmartPhones, portable gaming devices, etc. can be used as long as they support WiFi.
